It is the best non-metroid, non-castlevania, metroidvania I've ever played and I've played a TON of em. Only other game that even comes close is shadow complex and I'll still take AV. The game feels more like Metroid than it does Super Metorid in terms of more stuff being hidden in extremely obtuse ways.
The vast array of weapons is unlike any I've seen in the genre. The boss fights are spectacular. I bought the game the day it came out on PS4 and played it non stop for a week till I beat it, have played through it once since then, and fully plan on rebuying it for switch. It's that good.
